Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT are increasingly being integrated into education, aiding both students and teachers in tasks such as lesson planning, personalized learning, and academic support. While AI enhances language education by offering tailored materials and support, concerns remain about its ability to understand and teach language within its full cultural and contextual depth. This study explores whether ChatGPT can truly engage with the Interlanguage (IL) and intercultural aspects of language learning, which are essential for developing a meaningful and authentic linguistic identity.
